To help us get a bigger Asian Empire!.
Which in turn meant a better economy for us and our empire!. We started trade routes between europe and Asia!.
We also wanted India for exploration, a lot of india was uncharted at the time!.

Britain mostly aimed to make a lot of money off of India!. However they did some good such as English as a common language and trying to prevent the suttee!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
