Question: WWI Women- did any make it into the trenches!?
I know it's a cliche, I mean, some young lass cuts her hair off, puts trousers on and signs up, but I wonder, is there any record of it happening in WWI!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

none that I have ever heard ofWww@QuestionHome@Com

no i dont think so because back in WWI times women were expected to just be there and look good so i dont think they would get into the military!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If she did she probably died with the men hiding her as there's no record of any woman doing this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the XIX and XVIII and back, it was possible for a woman to pose as a man and enter the army!. There were no thorough medical examinations and hygiene standards were very different, reducing the chances of discovery!. There are recorded instances of this happening in at least the Spanish and English military!. But in WWI the soldiers were examined and cleanliness was encouraged, at least whilst not in the trenches!. There would be little chance for a woman to disguise herself and pass as a man!. Even the French had said adieu to their cantinieres and vivandieres long before!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, unfortunately no, women were working in the cities and employment rose for women during that time!. There isn't any women in the trenches for it was very difficult to survive in the trenches and World War I alone!. Diseases, mustard gas, and more advanced technology made it harder for women to be in WW I because death is harsher, living in the military trenches is hell, and no women ever disguse themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As far as I know, the nearest women got to the trenches was nurses working at casualty clearing stations, which were quite close!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
