OK, a link below which is written fairly simply and should be useful to gain some general background knowledge!.

However, as another answerer pointed out, you will have received some documents when the question was set, and your teacher will want to see how you have used those documents when you answer the question!.

If you don't use the set documents, you may receive a poor mark even if your essay is good!.

You need to refer to and quote from the documents supplied when preparing your answer, but that doesn't mean you can't also look at other sources!.
