Hitlers rise to power began in the 1930's during the Great Depression!. The Nazi party appointed him to be a leader and they won the election after some complicated twisting of the law (fairly or not is in question) He did many great things for Germany as a country!. He created jobs for many Germans that were unavailable before!. He had crews build the Autobahn, he paid off debts and lots of other things!.
However, he broke the Treaty of Versailles (which ended WW1) and started creating a huge army!.
He was then in complete, unquestioned control until he died in April of 1945!.

He did a lot of good things for Germany and Europe, in fact he was named Time Magazines Man of the Year in 1939!. The evil he orchestrated after wards however is nothing to be joked about!.
