well, America was split between supporting the war, and staying out of it!. Alexander Hamilton thought we should support them because the French supported us and hlepd us fight in the American Revolution, but George Washington & Thomas Jefferson warned us about making ties with foreign nations because we would get sucked into fighting a war we wouldn't really get an affect for!.
