Oh, we would have come in, we always do!. But Pearl Harbor made it happen faster!. In 1941 people were very skeptical about the war in Europe!. Few people actually had hard fact as to what Hitler was doing to countries in Europe, they did not understand the significience of his plan, and the prosecution of Jews and other problem people was not well known!. There was an disbelief, but since US businesses were to some extent supporting the British with some war materials being shipped over, the days of isolation were coming to a close!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well that depends really!. I mean they might have chosen to support an ally in the war!. But most likely no!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably not, unless Germany defeated Russia and came over the pole to attack Canada!. That would be getting a little too close to home for the US, so they would have likely fought!. But it's really hard to predict with so many 'what if's' to consider!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If Pearl Harbor hadn't occurred, it would have been a replay of World War One!.
Arrive extremely late and then claim victory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

America was neutral before the Pearl Harbor attacks, not necessarily isolated!.
I think we would have got involved later on anyway if Pearl Harbor was never attacked!. Hitler was way too evil for the U!.S!. to sit back and do nothing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some histories of Admirals indicate US Navy was on a time-line for a early 1943 war declaration with Germany- Navy ships were informally escorting British convoys/patrolling against U-boats before Pearl Harbor!. Army history notes Chief of Staff Marshal also getting troop strength and training schedule for 1943 declaration of War with Germany if diplomats didn't get some English peace guarantees!. Soviets/Stalin had 10 year non aggression pact- but expected attack by Germany 1944 or 1945 so were relocating war industry to Urals region and had tentative plans to attack Germany in 1945!. If Pearl Harbor hadn't happened!?- fair possibility of declaring war if Germany and Britain had been still fighting in 1944!. Somewhat lesser possibility to make peace with Japan and join with Japan to attack Soviet Union, split Siberia at Black Dragon to Eastern Urals and get rid of communist revolutionary menace!. Diplomats should have assured Japan that Manchurian Army would get American oil and iron, maybe Yamamoto would have convinced Army/Tojo no need to attack England and America, would have been like WW1 allies!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. The Germans were sinking our cargo ships which were supplying goods to Great Britain!. As each private ship was sunk, the need for America to protect it's business interests and continue supplying food and good to Great Britain!. German U-Boats would have been the start of the war!.

Since the Japanese were doing rather well at that time, they would have been too proud as to leave part of "their" ocean!. Therefore, they would have provoked a battle as they continued to expand their empire!. Perhaps it would have taken an extra year!. But the war was most likely to have start given the ego's of the men in Germany and Japan!.

Italy was a punk country with minimal successes in Northern Africa!. They won because they were not fighting highly organized militaries!. But the didn't have the resources to maintain their empire of they had a figured out how to keep the United States out of Africa!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, we fought the war over two oceans:
Pacific because Japs bombed Pearl Harbor
Atlantic in Germany because they randomly declared war on usWww@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think so!. I think that we would have supported England but I know that JPK [Joe Kennedy] really resented going into war!. He should have known!. He should have known!. He was right up close in England/Court of St!. James!. But FDR didn't really listen to him anyway!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you had never been born, would someone else have asked this question!?

The answer to any speculative question is that we cannot know!. Nothing happens in a vacuum - other events might have occurred that would have affected the politics of the time!.

History is the study of events - not speculation about what might have happened if !.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Least probably!. Cause the Americans just wanted to stop Japanese from expanding in Asia!. The Americans only decided to fight the Germans when they declared war against them after U!.S!.A!. declared war on Japan!. U!.S!.A declared war on Japan after Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

America was isolationist!.

I read somewhere that FDR had foreknowledge of the attack on Pearl Harbor but let it happen in order to get the people's support to fight the Axis!.

That's why many people were not surprised, after 9/11, when the administration invaded Iraq!. Same kind of scenario, or perhaps even more sinister, if one were to believe the conspiracy theories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
