30 Years War!. Counter Reformation!. Are we counting things like sailing-off to the New World!?

Here are a couple of nice little time-lines for you!.

Women!? ::shakes her head:: I see some claims that their situation was much improved, but unless my memory plays me false, we are also talking about the puritans, Calvanists, and other "right-wing" sects of the Protestant church!. My understanding is that they didn't grant women any rights!. They had the right to belong to a male and pray to God that that male cared for her, protected her, and provided for her!.

There were apparently a good many business owners in London who were female!.

Hope this helps get you started!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're talking about the Renaissance!. During this period, there was some improvement in the role of women in society!. It was possible for women to be merchants, particularly if they were left a business upon the death of their father!. It was also becoming more possible for a woman to own property in her own name, rather than only in the name of a male relative!. It was also becoming more possible for women to travel than previously!. Women also had more opportunities to become literate!. Queen Elizabeth I of England had proven that women could effectively rule a major nation, which likely had some positive impact too!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
