Question: Recalling the Cuban Missile Crisis!?
Hello everyone,
My "lovely" history teacher decided to spring up an interview for homework, but the trouble is, I have nobody to interview!

So, I'm asking for anybody to tell me a CITIZENS view on the cuban missile crisis- preferably if you were around in the early 1960s and remember it!.

Help is greatly appreciated!. I would love to hear a first-hand account of thought on the whole ordeal and what not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I was in Jamaica visiting friends when the Cuban Missile Crisis erupted!. I do remember a lot of American ships, boats, aircraft carriers in the harbor of kingston (on carrier I was invited to tour)!.

The strange was that even though I was so near to the "possible hell outbreak" no one felt scared!. Maybe we did not really understand how severe the situation was!. Only years later when I went to university and studied Political Science did I suddenly grasp the situation I was in!.

No one really believed Kennedy will threaten the Soviets, then once this was happening, we all bit our nails to see if the Soviets will comply and withdraw their ships or not!. It definitely was an unforgettable event but it took several years for me to understand the enormity of it!.

I hope I helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
