Question: So today I decided to walk to the cemetary that's like three or so houses from mine and!.!.!?
I don't have any relatives buried there, as it's a Catholic cemetary and I'm not Catholic, but
I noticed ALOT of the graves were of babies/infants/young children that had died in the early 1900s all within the same, or a few years of eachother, and I found that kind of disturbing!. It seems like there was some sort of plague or something going around back then to have all those young kids die!. Does anyone know what it might be!?

(Oh and sorry if this is in the wrong category, I didn't know which one it should be in)Www@QuestionHome@Com

in 1918 There was a horrible flu epidemic that covered the whole world!. Many, many people of all ages died that year and infants were the most suseptible because they didn't have immunity to anything yet!. also the infant mortality rate around that time was high because they do not have all the life saving measures that they do now!. There was also no birth control so people had many children and many of them didn't live to adulthood!. My family tree contains many families of 10 to 15 children!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That may have been, but the infant mortality rate was also a lot higher back then!. No one can tell you anything about a plague without knowing your location!. Google the history of your area, if something as big as a plague happened you will be able to find it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Infant death rate was very high back in those days because of the lesser quality in medicine!. At young ages, children and infants are very vulnerable to diseases and whatnot, so if they made it past a certain age, parents sighed a breath of relief because usually the child would live to be old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Small pox, measles, dysentery, malnutrition, etc!.

Kids even died of the flu back then!. Maybe it was a bad winter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
