Great Britain ruled lands all over the world from about the 1600s to the 1900s!. The British Empire was the largest empire in history and for a time was the foremost global power!.Www@QuestionHome@Com "The sun never sets on the British Empire!." This is a saying about the British Empire because they had colonies all around the world, and somewhere in the empire it was daytime, and covered tha largest land area ever ruled over by one nation!. The British empire began around 1700, and while it is no longer considered an empire, still has a vast commonwealth network!. However, the Roman Empire lasted over 1,000 years and streached from Britain to the Middle East!. Much of the building technology of the Romans were adopted by the "western world" (including Britain) are still used today, 2,000 years later!.
