For the simple reason that he was one of the greatest social and political thinkers ever to have existed and, together with Fredrich Engles, he managed to create one of the greatest works of political and social truth. He was an astoundingly intelligent and wise philosopher, as well as being a rational political thinker.

And - though I admire the aims of the other communists in the list - Marx didn't risk f**king up his ideals by messing with politics or killing people.
