Position:Home>History> Between the war of church and science.which side had left more cusultys?

Question:The Church for a number of reasons:

1) Most wars have been started over religious causes or religion has played a major part in the conflict. Institutionalized religion is about control and power whereby war, violence, murder, torture and persecution are tools to gain and hold onto that power. The Church may espouse spiritual values but in reality it has been a quite brutal secular political organization with its own laws, judges, police and armies.

2) The Church has existed longer in history than any recognizable set of people who represent the causes of science. Its had more time to rack up its death toll. Scientists were easy victims because their activities challenged Church doctrine and thus the power of the Church.

3) The Church has a leadership role in society for better or worse. The Church motivates the actions of people and this results in violence and death when peaceful solutions are not found or are overlooked. Religion tends to bring out the worst in human behavior in terms of mindless bigotry, rationalized brutality and a sense of conviction that overides common sense and decency.

4) Science is not a leadership organization in society. It is more generally a tool of the leaders. Science does not seek to make the better weapons of use them on others without someone funding and encouraging the reasearch. Whilst there is most certainly a very long list of scientists and doctors who have committed the most terrible crimes in the name of their research; science generally does not try to enforce its views onto the minds of others. Scientists generally don't want to control people, they want mastery of understanding over their research.

The church used to burn scientists at the stake for telling the world that the earth was round and not the center of the universe. You won't find many scientists burning priests for spreading lies.

The church unfortanetly.

It was the church since they feared the loss of control of the people. The church was such a powerful influence that when science started to become a popular way of thinking, the control of the church was questioned and the ideas of the church were questions. Power does amazing things to people and organisations, and so many people suffered because of the church.

The Religious side. Most conflicts start because of Religious beliefs.

Of course the church. Read about Galileo, and the wonderful life he lead because of the Roman Catholic church. He wrote several books about the universe and our planet, but church made him state what he wrote was complete fiction and figment of his imagination.. When people, actually started thinking for them self the church confined Galileo to house arrest until his death.. There is always the unforgettable which hunts, and the burning of heretics.. The church instilled fear, blood and control... How many scientists do you know who did that?
