Position:Home>History> Who defeated napoleon?

Question:The British General Wellington.
Wellington actually flipped the script on Napoleon and utilized Napoleon's tactics against him. Only Wellington employed Napoleonic tactics in a more streamlined fashion using the British Breathe system with the thin red line battle formation.

In his defense, Napoleon was not Napoleon at that point and made some horrible mistakes - like commiting the Imperial Guard to battle allowing the Prussians to surround his rear or dispatching his best general to the wrong location to attack those same Prussians. Waterloo was a true debacle for Bonaparte but it should be said that the battle was won by very slim margin even with those mistakes.
