Position:Home>History> When will Democrats realise FDR was a fascist, no better than Hitler or Stalin?

Question:FDR wanted to be president for life- He instituted communist programs, was an ally of Stalin, and gave defeated Berlin to the Soviets-Plus he shipped off American citizens of japanese heriatge to detention centers. FDR was a fascist-YET the left sees him as a hero- The best thing FDR did was die in office- cause if he didn't, he'd have been in office for life.

He was the worst presdient we ever had- I think he was involved with the attack on Pearl Harbor- and he should not have gotten involved with the war in Europe.

WHY does the left regards such an anti American would be dictator like FDR as a hero? FDR was NO patriot

i agree with you, it amazes me how many people like this douche, but i dont know what was weaker, his policies or his legs

When pigs fly.

Perhaps, "dirty ape," you'd feel happier swinging in the trees.
You say, "The best thing...," but in fact, if he died in office, he DID hold office for life." Do you see the logic? You are not even consistent, much less rational.
Winston Churchill worked well with him. Or was Winnie a fascist to you? Read Churchill's six volume work on WW II and then conclude that FDR was a fascist. Churchill has nothing but fondness for FDR.
As for worse president--you have a liking for Franklin Pearce, do you? Or Buchanan--who sat on his hands when the South was breaking away from the US? Is he one of your better presidents?
And it was under FDR that Lend-Lease occured. If not actually fighting the Nazis we were arming the Brits. Without FDR's financial, and yes, moral support, the Brits might have not been able to carry out alone.
As for Stalin--no one liked him. Churchill didn't. But defeating the Nazis was more important than any other consideration. Churchill didn't care for de Gaulle, either, but de Gaulle was the leader of the Free French. (Remember that Lincoln thought that saving the Union was more important than ending slavery or ANY other consideration.)

and what is funny is that we are taught in school that he was the hero during the great depression even though his programs prolonged it. so much for public schooling.

i dont think the left will ever hate on FDR because that is the kind of president they are looking for. someone that will take away the rights of the individual and give it to the government and the collective.

good to see someone else besides me realize this.

I think you need to brush up on your history ! FDR deeply distrusted Stalin as did Churchill. As for getting involved with the war in Europe ? What would you suggest, that the US stood back and allowed Hitler to conquer the entire continent of Europe and murder even more people ? NEVER forget, Hitler despised Jews, Blacks, Asians, Freemasons, Gypsies, Democrats, Liberals, etc etc etc, basically anyone other than what he considered to be Germanic/Aryan. Bear in mind that in real terms, the US consists of immigrants from all over Europe, (and, to a lesser degree, other parts of the world), and these people make up the vast majority of USA's population. With the exception of the Native American Indians of course. Be thankful your forefathers fought to free the world of Hitler and his kind !!!!!!

Did someone forget to take their medication today?

Wow.
Not sure how to phrase this, but here goes:
You're an idiot.
The worst President ever was likely US Grant- who appointed his incompetent friends who were corrupt to boot.

Just remember who instituted Social Security & Medicaid when your parents retire. If not for his "communist programs" you'd have to take care of them. And assuming the programs are intact when you retire, be glad that they are there, otherwise you'd have to depend on your kids, or just die in your office.

The WW2 would have spread to the US if not for the US backing the Russians and the UK before the war even started. Had Hitler taken England and then Russia; and the Japanese took SE Asia, China; who do you think these aggressive expansionists would look to next? (I realize this argument is a bit like the domino theory, and like GWB's rationalization of invading Iraq- but I figure if you hate FDR so much, you love Dick & crazy theories of said VP of GWB)

And there have been many investigations into Pearl Harbor; and who knew what, etc- with no trace of conspiracy to be found.
Now Nixon & Reagan; they KNEW they were breaking the law when they did these things. And they KNEW it wasn't allowed so they tried to cover it up but were cought. And far more people died as a Result of Reagan selling weapons & parts to Iran & the Contras than in Pearl.
Not to mention that Reagan was an ally of Saddam Hussein in the 1980's, and of the Musahadin (taliban & al queada)

Oh and FYI: Fascists have commies. Commies hate fascists. I realize the distinction between Stalin & Hitler are difficult to see, but the facts still remain.

And if you took the time to stop spewing hate-speech, you'd see the facts.

dear uninformed dirty ape: you are a provocateur or you know jack. me thinks it's JACK! FDR was anything but and also one of the most liked and informed presidents of all time. if you are attempting to compare him with hitler and stalin, you might but caution is the word. he was president for life, wasn't he? after all, he did die in office and since we don't live forever...! he was america's only (so far) elected dictator but the times required it. he was considered a benign dictator. war raging on two fronts, unease and home-front problems hammering him on a daily basis, coming out of a damaging crash of '29, oh a whole slew of problems faced this man when entering office in 1933 and it didn't let up in 1945, near war's end. truman, who was his VP handled it rather nicely. i think you need to go back to the books, this time read them and then make intelligent remarks (in other words, make sure the brain is attached before the lips move!).

He was elected into office by a popular vote four times. Doesn't sound like a dictator to me.

The US was attacked at Pearl Harbor. FDR didn't make the Japanese do it. Also they were in an alliance with Germany so the US had to declare war on both.

The alliance with Stalin won the war.

The Japanese Internment was sad but was a very effective way of ridding the US of Japanese spies.

I don't agree with everything he did, but I think 'Dubya' is the front runner for the worst president ever.

your an idiot

he helped end the depression by telling people to go to work and help support the war effort.

and it wasnt FDR who made the berlin decision

did you know that most leaders wanted to push to Moscow to get rid of stalin?

I don't dislike, or like FDR, but your comment about Pearl Harbor, is something many who don't like FDR say. IMO, and in studying Pearl Harbor for 25+ years, I've found nothing that supports the comment that FDR 'knew' that Pearl Harbor would be attacked.

Uhhh... he was also elected four times, so I guess people didn′t exactly thought like you at the time.

Also, blaming FDR of pearl arbour is even dumber than blaming Bush of the 9/11.
I don′t like him, but this does not make a coonspirator out of him.
