you tell me

No. Slavery played a part in it, but it was about the South wanting to separate itself and form a new nation.

Yes.
All other issues originate from or center around one thing: slavery.

no, not at first. the main issue to begin with was States Rights. The Southern States wanted the States to have more control over the Federal Government because the States had a better idea as to the needs of the citizens while the Northern States wanted the Federal Government to be stronger than the State Government.

no! it managed to become a second side issue but the existing states' decision to leave the union was the over-riding factor of the civil war. the north gave lip service to the slavery issue but when freed, the north no more wanted them than the south. the south wanted to keep the status quo but when freed, the slaves were subjected to extreme limits and later, jim crow laws. this was a classic example of 'be careful what you wish for...' !

like most wars...it was about wealth and greed. Slavery was an important issue, however...

No, actually it began over the issue of state rights verses governmental rights; whose right preceeded the other?

Not at the onstart of the war, but Presidnt Lincoln brought it into the central issue during the last year and a half of the four year conflict.

No, states rights to self govern themselves without federal interference.
