Position:Home>History> Music- A Fasttrack Toward Assimilation?

Question:The Cadogan Hall is hosting a seminar about the Jewish refugee musicians who settled in Britain in consequence of the Holocaust.

Perhaps they don`t mean to be snide but somehow the world is always snide when referring to Jews. (Viz Bob Hoskins `ugly` Tesco commercial about `uglies`)

Unlike current immigrants, Holocaust refugees were not recognized as political exiles and had to apply for residency on the same basis as any economic migrant.

Thus the title is misinformed, crude, rude and deeply, deeply racist.

European Jews didn`t need to assimilate because in the main they were WASPs living in other countries and often with a family connection in Great Britain.

And yet, whilst the Status Quo never raises an issue of assimilation with regard to Asians, Arabs, Blacks or others, it always reflects the antiSemitic religious prejudices of the Catholic Church and makes Jews the outsiders.

Jews belong....belonged....will belong....long after the satire, the sarcasm....

It's true that Jews are taking too much advantage of their massacre decades ago. There are plenty of other people with similar horror in the past. Instead of still crying foul against the Germans or Muslims, they should realize that this is 21st century, not WWII.

I still don't get your point though. 0_o I get your observation, so what's your conclusion?
