Why was it right for Truman to decide on dropping the atomic bombs?

Sorry but no cons that I can think of compared to the right reasons.

1. Ended a war with a fanatical enemy (most obvious)
2. Actually saved lives in the long run for the invasion of Japan would have been a disaster for the Americans and the Japanese. The occupation of Japan would have been horrific for years.
3. Since others were working on the atom bomb, by the USA using it it gave people and governments to see what the results would be. I am convinced that if we hadn't, it would have eventually been used by some other country

I don't agree that it was right. But at the time it had a lot to recommend it, and HST did not have the information that we now do.

The Japanes were in very poor condition, militarily; short of fuel and other essentials. An invasion would not have been the terrible ordeal often claimed; their troops were away on various islands, so defending the homeland would have been done by old civilians with sharp sticks.

It appears now HST wanted to impress Joe Stalin, whom he regarded with suspicion.

American casualties were estimated at 1 million dead and wounded.
Japanese casualties were to be 10 million Plus
There were less then 200 thousand killed by dropping both bombs.
What a choice to have to make. It will make a person grow old fast.

Itz a controversial topic..I personally felt that itz not right..No matter wat kinda reason he had to drop the bomb..and 2 bombs some more..wat a decision..He's just trying to gain power and remain as the 'leader' of the world by doin so i guess..Til now, USA remained the only country in the world that had used an atomic bomb during war..After that dropping, they come out with the signing of the treaty that no country should use atomic bombs again..cool huh?
