Like the first commenter, where?

The "rights" of women in the middle ages in general were negligible, even though here and there there were queens and local "royalty"; the rich women were obviously afforded more "rights" than the peasants/poor. I would say that this is true anywhere in the world, though in certain cultures women were revered (Native Americans, Mexicans pre-Conquistadors, Hawaii, and probably South America). The worst countries for womens' rights were--and are, because things really haven't changed much--the Middle Eastern countries. Islam (particularly the Islam practiced in Saudi Arabia) can't be called a "peaceful" religion and still allow burning women alive for disobediance towards their husbands. Women were treated like property in the middle ages...like cattle. Arranged marriages have been around in the East for ages and still occurs today.

Same can be said for the rest of the world, though sometimes less so. In Europe when they traded cows for brides it still wasn't as bad as what they did and still do in the Middle East/among some Indians/some Asian cultures.

Late middle ages where? Europe, the Middle East, South America?

They were probably doing what everyone else was doing at the time, farming the land and trying to survive. Women shared an equal part of the burden of maintaining the family. There really wasn't much else to do during the late middle ages.
