20th century questions...!?

Question:Ok. now this may sound ridiculous but when did the 20th century start and end. I am pretty sure it started on January 1 1901 and ended on December 31, 2000. Or is it December 31, 1999. I am not sure. But anyways that is my 1st question. My 2nd question is what are some interesting historical fiqures or events that happened during the 20th century.?

If you could name some that do not include wars then that would be great because i am really not looking for wars.

The 20th century started on January 1, 1901, just as the 21st century started on January 1, 2001--Y2K hysteria to the contrary.
I'm thinking you're kidding about events during the 20th century. OK, leaving out wars: the rise and fall of communism, the cold war, the first powered flight in 1903 (Wright Brothers) to the first moon landing in 1969.
Woman's suffage in the United States, United Kingdom and elsewhere. The civil rights movement in the US. The Great Depression. Jazz. Computers and the electronic age. Radio. Television. The emergence of the US as a superpower. The League of Nations, the United Nations.

The century, in spite of what people think when they see number like 1900 or 2000, began on January 1, 1901.
As for historical figures or events of interest, there are so many that it would take me to write a book, for which I don`t have the time. Just read history.
