Position:Home>History> An argument, a theory, an endless circle to Hitler?

Question:Someone, though I forget who, presented a theory that every argument, if allowed to go on long enough, would eventually involve one party bringing Hitler/Nazism into the argument (as a comparison, and usually as a fallacy)... EVERY argument. However, for the life of me, I can't remember what that theory is called or the name of the man who proposed it.

Anyone know?

Thankyou!!!

I had never heard that before, but it's pretty funny, and sadly true. It is called Godwins Law.

Hitler=Creep and Creepiest man (equation: 0=0+0). Enough said. Next question.

The theory of reality.

It's a comment on human behaviour, that someone will always invoke Hitler to prove their point. A good example is that before English-speaking countries go to war, they will always compare their enemy to Hitler ... Bush did this indirectly by calling Iraq part of an 'Axis' of evil.
Any dictator is safe until they are compared to Hitler by a belligerent western nation.

Arguments may end, but most are never settled. There's always a second thought. .

Every argument becomes tiresome or heated; some one resorts to name calling and the speaker's flaws, vices, or other ugly features. That's the oldest rhetorical device known: argument by ad homonym.

In common speech in the West , what's the greatest evil to lay on some one? Fascism, Hitlerite, Nazism.

There is always a curse and a cursed name to resort to:

Ancient Greeks .barbarians.
In Rome, Hannibal and Carthage
Middle Ages, devil or witch
Moscow, Tartars or Trotskyite
England, Irish
Tokyo, Hairy round-eye
etc.
