Boys, in order of popularity:

John; Thomas; William; Richard; Robert; Henry; Nicholas; Walter; Edward

Girls, same order:

Elizabeth; Joan; Margaret; Anne; Alice; Agnes; Isabel; Jane; Mary; Katherine; Margery

Not to make your life more complicated, remember that there would be regional variation. And I'm using 1800, not 1880 or1890. If you have adult characters, they would have been named earlier.

My advice is to look at historic figures for that period, it's what I do. I've found that many are similar to modern names. Catharine, Mary, Anne, etc. Good luck.

Richard,John,Wessley Victoria,Henry,Oscar umm thats all i got

How about George Elliott, Bronte Sisters (all trhee of them), how about Joseph Conrad, how about John Keats, G. B. Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Henry James... these are all writers. You will find plenty to write about.

In England, the royal family were always held by much of the population in high esteem. Look for the names of Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses.
