Position:Home>History> Is it true that the Spanish East Indies still exist?

Question:At least nominally? as I read somewhere that Spain legally still has title to a few islands that were left out of the 1899 German-Spanish treaty and that the current Spanish king Juan Carlos, continues to use the title of "King of the Spanish East Indies"

Thank you very much for your help :)

Following the Spanish-American War in 1898, most of the islands were occupied by the United States while the rest were sold to Germany in the German-Spanish Treaty (1899). However, the kings of Spain (including the current monarch) still continued to use the title "King of the Spanish East Indies" as part of their traditional values.
