Yes. Swedish power peaked under Gustavus Augustus, who got Sweden deeply involved in the 30 Year's War (1618-1648). Under Charles XII, who was a very military man, Sweden fought the Great Northern War with Russia, a war that lasted at least a dozen years and ended in 1720. After this defeat Russia eclipsed Sweden as the dominant Baltic power.

nope

no they never were a great power unless you count them with the vickings but they were more in Norway

Yes as a matter of fact Sweden conquered a large part of Poland and the Baltic coast for some time in the Middle Ages. Later Sweden was enmeshed in many European allegiances in many wars.Look up Magnus Erikson.

Yes

Sweden won Finland from Russia in a certain war which escapes me now. There was also a Swedish East India Company, rivalling, maybe not as strong but still, the British and Dutch. Many Swedish Royals were absorbed into European families through marriage.

Modern Sweden emerged out of the Kalmar Union formed in 1397, and by the unification of the country by King Gustav Vasa in the 16th century. In the 17th century the country expanded its territories to form the Swedish Empire. Most of the conquered territories outside the Scandinavian Peninsula, were lost during the 18th and 19th centuries. The historically integrated eastern half of Sweden, Finland, was lost to Russia in 1809. The last war in which Sweden was directly involved was in 1814, when Sweden by military means forced Norway into a personal union with Sweden, a union which lasted until 1905. Since 1814, Sweden has been at peace, adopting a non-aligned foreign policy in peacetime and neutrality in wartime.
