in what specific ways is north korea like the soviet union in the 1950's or germany in the 1930's? differences and similarities?

NK espouses the same ideaology, but that's about it. Their practice of it is another thing.

They can't support themselves from one year to the next. They are a net importer of just about everything they import. They have no presence in the global market, and have virtually nothing they can bring to it.

In short they are a pimple on the a$$hole of progress.

north korea lacks food but both germany and, to a lesser degree, the soviet union were able to feed their people. Also the soviets and koreans are communists while the germans are nazis.

They are somewhat similar because they are ruled by a dictator and their communism-based economies were in shambles. They also spied on their own people to make sure no one was opposing their leaders
