Good people don't.

The public loves a scandal.

i think it's the same stuff we deal with right now
in the news we tend to see all the 'bad' stories. we rarely hear about the 'good' stories

news programs have even had to add segments specifically for 'good' news stories
what? shouldn't that be common place?

i think it's the same rationale

because they make more trouble :)

peaceloving people live their normal nice lives, while the other ones make a mess! :)

They are not famous They are notorious.

Make love!

No war!!!

if your at peace nobody notices (bob was peaceful today) if you are a warrior you probably are not peaceful, bob killed 40 huns today....you gotta put yourself out there...tom

That's probably not completely true.
They are not famous, technically, more like 'well known' at best and 'notorious' at the worst.
They are more known than ordinary good guys living ordinary productive and helpful life because they stir trouble, if not participate in it completely.

One more thing, they may be known but not in a way that any sane person would envy. No one wants to be named 'Hitler' but there are a lot of folks named 'Martin Luther.' Their notoriety even becomes something that parents warn their children against.

Well, you are taking for granted that the bad indeed is more famous.
What about Jesus? Plato? Einstein?
Besides, if we take in consideration that we live now in a more 'civilized' world than before, therefore is not necessarily that people were all bad, but the world itself that they lived at their time was a tougher place than today.

We remember the bad to try and stop it from ever happening again. Thats why the haulocaust is taught in schools.

It's because the bad people killed all the good people off so there aren't any good ones to hear about!

ain't true at all.mahatma Gandhi, nelson Mandela,Gautama Buddha,Jesus...(to name afew) have always been more famous than osama bin laden and even have more 'followers'

They are always doing things out of the ordinary. (Most people would agree when you say friendliness, peace and quiet are the ordinary...)
Think of this as a grade school classroom.
Little Jimmy is a good student who always raises his hand before he speaks and is a rule-obeying kid. On the other hand we have Junior, who is always interrupting the lesson and throwing spit wads at the teacher. Who would stick out the most, and most likely be the kid you remember? The one doing something to stir up trouble and distract you.
It's not like people who write history books only write about the bad guys, you know. They just distract people from everyday life and get reactions (wars, treaties, bills, speeches)
