All presidents have been Protestants of one sect or another, though most have been Episcopalian, I believe. Except for John F. Kennedy, who was Catholic. His religion was controversial at the time of his election, and there was still some anti-Catholic bias at the time, with concern that he would be more faithful to the Pope in Rome than to the U.S. Since his election, it's been less controversial to be Catholic and running for president, but he is still our only non-Protestant president.
