Position:Home>History> How did the Christian Church create stability during the Middle Ages?

Question:There are two primary ways in which the Church created stability. It taught that one was subject to civil authority, and obligated to respect one's king or prince. The second way is that the Church itself was a trememdously large landowner, controlling and employing many peasants and artisans to tend its fields, build its structures and create art as decoration for the cathedrals and palaces. All of this created a pliant mass of subjects toiling for its "betters" and waiting for the afterlife to seek personal happiness.
