Question:We have to write a 14 page paper on a history topic and I chose why rome fell. We had to come up with thesises, and put the reasons like corruption, overexpansion, too many cultures, and my teacher said my paper would be too broad and I need to narrow it down...what do I do?
What would be the most fulfilling topic to focus on for the collapse of rome?

Personally I think Rome fell because of its power hungry rulers. Everyone wanted power that's why the medieval times started and all the land was basically broken into little counties who all had non-important king. All those little counties always fought, because back then land was power and everyone was power hungry and everyone always will be.

just pick one of those topics (corruption, overexpansion, or cultures) and explain how it caused the downfall of Rome. Part of being a historian is picking a thesis and running with it. That doesn't mean you disregard other reasonings, but you don't focus on them. You might mention them briefly in a beginning paragraph, and then get into the meat of one reason you think is the be all end all of reasons.
