Question:The Versailles Treaty was a collection of demands and punishments for the Germans after World War One. The allies, (England, the US, France, Russia,Canada etc.) wanted to make them pay for the destruction they caused. However their punishments were so harsh that it killed the German economy. And Germany being such a productive nation, had an economy that Europe needed to continue to prosper. When Germany they all went down. Including the US> the Stock Market Crash, the Great Depression.

Because after the surrender of Germany, the clauses ot the surrender were so severe it broke the nation and caused bitterness in Germany. It reduced Germany to a third world nation and it caused bitterness. That is the short answer.
