Question:I am obsessed with the Romonov family, and I was wanting to know how many Romonov tsars there are. I know there are at least 19 and I know of three other people wo could possibly be cosidered a tsar(Constantine, Alexei, and Mikhail).
All I need to know is if these three people were considered tsar and or if there are any more members of the Romonov family that could be cosidered tsar (Not past 1918)

"Since Alexander I had no sons, his youngest brother and third son of Paul, Nicholas I, reluctantly accepted the throne after his older brother Constantine refused it.

In March of 1917, Czar Nicholas was forced to sign away his empire as Czarevitch Alexis was too sick to succeed his father and his brother, the Grand Duke Michael, refused the dangerous station."

I don't know the technicalities, but I think the three you mention were not actually Czars/Tsars.

(England had a situation in the late 1400s when the two little princes were imprisoned in the Tower of London. The eldest, Edward, was technically Edward V, but was not king as he disappeared. Yet, after his father, Edward IV, the next Edward was the VI, Henry VIII's son.)

I attach some sites which may help:

It's interesting about Alexander I, isn't it? I read a few articles about whether he faked his own death and continued living!

These sites show 17 and 18 Romanov tsars respectively since 1613, Mikhail and Alexei Mikhailovich being the first two. The first site uses the Russian-style spelling of the names:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsars_of_Ru...

The information from the following site says “Constantine Pavlovich and Michael Alexandrovich, although sometimes counted among Russian monarchs, were not crowned and never reigned.”
