Position:Home>History> About how much son and daughter did ramses II had? please list your source?

Question:"Ramses II probably had over 100 children by his principal wives and consorts. As with the flip of a coin, approximately half of them were sons and the other half daughters. About 29 of the 30 sons of mostly principal queens are known. They would have had the title, "King's Son of His Body", a title not conferred on the sons of lesser consorts. He probably had a few additional sons by principal queens who died in infancy, but these are not recorded. We also know the names of a few of the sons of lesser consorts, but how many sons he had by them is unknown."

"[He] had as many as eight wives and a number of concubines. Ramses II’s first and greatest love, however, was the beautiful Nefertari. Ramses II was married to Nefertari before taking the throne. After his father’s death, Ramses II appointed Nefertari the "Great Royal Wife" and the "Mistress of Upper and Lower Nile." Nefertari bore her husband’s firstborn son, Amen-Hir-Khopshef.

Ramesses II had many wives. During his long reign, eight women held the title Great Royal Wife (often simultaneously). The most memorable of Ramesses' wives was Nefertari.

The writer Terence Gray stated in 1923 that Ramesses II had as many as 20 sons and 20 daughters but scholars today believe his offspring numbered over a hundred in total. In 2004, Dodson and Hilton noted that the monumental evidence "seems to indicate that Ramesses II had around 110 children--[with] 48-55 sons and 40-53 daughters
