To a socialist or modern communist, he is a hero.

To a modern social conservative, he is a terrorist.

To a t-shirt company, he is a revenue generating logo..

Actually, very few of those who believe him to be a hero have ever read a book about his life. That he was a hero, is really out of the question. There is no single heroic act in his life. But he sells apparel, so for clothing manufacturers, yes he's a hero, rather an icon.
