Position:Home>History> Why didnt Queen Elizabeth pardon her mother and move her remains from the Tower

Question:I'm doing a study on King Henry VIII and one author mentioned there was a plea put in front of parliment to pardon Queen Anne and move her remains to rest her daughter Elizabeth. The author stated parliment could not do this being the lack of creditable evidence presently left to consider. That got me wondering why her daughter, who throw wieght around, didnt pardon her mother? I know at first she was securing her Kingdom but there was a time in her reign she could have convinced the people to consider her pleas to pardon her mother ????

Elizabeth I was not known to have mentioned her mother in public at any time .. although she frequently swore that she would show everyone that she was her father's daughter!
Anne Boleyn may not even be buried in St peter's at the tower, there is conflicting evidence that her servants took her body elsewhere.
Anne didn't need pardon, she was innocent of the charges thrown at her by Henry who just wanted to rid himself of her.
If Elizabeth had sought pardon for her mother, that is accepting that mum was guilty of the charges, which Elizabeth would not accept!
Hope this view helps.

She did not deserve to be pardoned

Elizabeth's mother was thought a witch. When Anne had died already, everyone had forgiven Anne. Elizabeth probably didn't.

Because she was the "good queen bitc...sorry bess"
