Now for the scientific reason why some tow-headed tots grow into brunettes!.

Hair darkens because the genes that control hair color switch on as children age:

---Those genes programmed with a code for more pigment result in brown or even black hair, a change that more usually occurs;
---Genes programmed with a code for little or no pigment result in blond hair, a much rarer [recessive] occurrence!.

Scientists also suspect that genes control the timing of this change since in addition to hair darkening during childhood, hair color often darkens at puberty, which means the change is in part are hormone related!. Darkening hair, in some instances, continues into the 30s and 40s!.

Hair texture, of course, also tends to become coarser with age!. Thicker hair strands are likely to alter hair color even if the level of pigment remains constant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have no idea!. This happened to my sister who has really blonde hair up until about 4 it is now a light brown!. It happened to my hair which was extremely light blonde up until about 9 when it is now a mixture of blonde and brown (but I think it looks better now) And my dad was born with blonde hair and now its jet black!. who knows!? My maternal grandfather had very light blond hair all of his life!. It turns out that he was slightly albino!.

I think my mother may also have been baby blond then changed to golden brown as she got older!.

To confuse the issue my dad had black hair and both my brothers had dark brown hair!.

Both of my sisters were born with black hair that turned blonde before they were a year old!. They were what you would call tow heads!. However, their hair turn brown later on!. It happened to my younger sister during her first pregnancy!. Don't know why,Www@QuestionHome@Com

i used to hair white blonde hair when i was little and now it is like auburn/browny red!. I havent dyed it, it has just got darker over the years!. It might be because when you are little, you have thinner, baby hair!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

most people are born with light hair and it darkens down as your body matures, and all baies are also born with bule eyes that useally change too, weird huh!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Usually blond people's DNA is more sensitive than others!. After courseship, the DNA of the blond is more likely to be blend in with the husbands!

also, blonds are definitely a mutation, as are blue eyes, and all people with blue eyes can be traced back 6-10 thousand years to one ancestor!. And blonds are becoming extinct too! its exciting, so research it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
