The common ancestor you mention is Mitochondrial Eve, the woman we can trace all our lineage to!. This doesn't mean she was the first human or the only human on Earth at the time, it just means all living humans can trace our mitochondrial DNA all the way back to her!. She lived c!. 140,000 years ago!.

Do you know your specific Asian heritage!? If not, the closest we can narrow it down to would be 400 - 300 BC!. This is when immigrants from South China immigrated to the Japanese islands and intermingled!. Most Asian countries can trace their lineage to some sort of Chinese ancestry, so usually no matter what Asian you are, you have a small fraction of Chinese in you!. Please note that what I just stated is from my own memory, no research done on that fact!.

If you could specify what your Asian heritage is then it would be easier to find a closer date!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
