She was a very witty lady who did not seem at all like she was losing her mind!. But then she told me that one of her granddaughters was bringing her baby!. I was a little taken back thinking that she was slipping in and out of reality!. I asked how old her daughter was she said 78!. That is only a 13 year difference!. I asked her how old her granddaughter was she said 13!. I decided to not press the issue any further!.A little while later in came a stream of ladies, 6 women and a baby!. And sure enough there was a girl who looked like a very developed 13 year old holding a baby!. I asked who was _____'s daughter and the oldest looking in the bunch said I am!. they introduced me to the bunch of them!.!.!.turns out the 91 year old was a great great great great grandma!. Each of them had gotten pregnant at around 13!. Unbelievable!. I was shocked!. Does anyone else know of any other instances like this!? Or have a family like this!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a number of ancestors who got married at 14 - 16 and were pregnant shortly afterwards!. It was quite common in the 1800's and earlier!. It is a lot less common today!. I'd suspect they were from the lower end of the socio-economic scale and the last three generations were not married to the fathers of their children!.

As a sidelight, our morals were formed back then, when women married a year or two after they reached sexual maturity!. Before 1900, to pick a year, women matured later and married earlier!. Maturing at 14 - 16 and being a virgin bride at 16 - 18 was commonplace!.

Today, girls are becoming sexually mature at 12 or earlier!. It may be due to better nutrition!. In the 1800's you didn't go into the supermarket and buy plums in February, fresh off the air freighter from Chile!. It may be due to the hormones they put in the animals who become the meat we eat!. It may be something else, depending on who you read!. We expect women to finish high school and have a career or go to college; getting married at 25 - 30 is commonplace today, in the USA!.

The pioneer woman had a 1-3 year gap between getting the keys to the car and taking it for a spin, so to speak; the modern one has a 12 -18 year gap!.

The Dr!. Laura's of the world rant about our depravity and blame it on many things!. They never mention biology!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It normally doesn't happen that many generations, but it can happen!. There are 5 generations of men living in my family: My grandfather,79yrs old, my dad,59, my brother,40, my nephew, 24 (his son), and my great nephew , 8 (his son!.) If my grandfather continues to live for another 10 years or so, then there is the possibility of a 6th generation coming in!. So far he's a great, great, great grandfather!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes, my great grandmother will turn 91 next March!. She recently had a family picture made with her and 4 other generations of women!. The newest baby is 8 months old!. It's awesome to have that many generations together!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My husbands grandma is still alive at 98 and his great aunt is 94 and still goes to the casino and lives like she is in her 60's and looks it too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I knew someone who became a grandmother at 30!.
She had been 15 when her daughter had been born, and this had been repeated!.
So it is quite conceivable that "Marion" could be a 5x Gt!. grandmother at 90 if the pattern repeats through the generations!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Nope I don't but that is ironic!. WOW!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Back in the day (early 1900's and before) people use to get married and have several children!. There were reasons for it 1) people didn't live as long so they started earlier 2) education was as important as it is today and 3) many more people were farmers and children were needed to help with the house and farm!. I also imagine the fact that there weren't many birthcontrol methods available as well!.

When you have children young you have a better chance of being around when your children have children !.

My parents didn't have me until their late 30s and my grandmother passed away when I was 13!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, girls were considered "old maids" if they hadn't gotten married by the age of 18 a 100 years ago and although 15 or 16 was the average age of marriage it wasn't unheard of for women to get married at 13 or 14!.

We still have a high rate of teenage pregnancy in the United States and many of the girls are only 13 or 14!. Remember, birth control was almost unheard of until the late 1950's or early 1960's and it's still not all that available for a girl under 18!. !.Www@QuestionHome@Com
