Question: Can anyone help me with the McElveen family of Ga!.!?
Desperate!.
Tracing back family tree, need to find descendants of a John D!. McElveen(or MacElveen) of Statesboro, George-Bulloch county!.
He at one point married a woman named America Cone, had 11 children, one son was named Elias, may have been a sheriff back in the 1800's!.
John could have been a Doctor!.
Some other names possibly associated are Eliza McElveen, Mary Ann Groover!., or a Babe Brown!.
Believe he was a doctor also for the Confederacy and was blinded by a powder explosion around 1865!.
also the tree may go to Stephen Mac, or McElveen, another Doctor who was married to a Laura(maiden name Clanton)Www@QuestionHome@Com

While Arlington National Cemetery was originally conceived as a "Union" burial ground, there are instances of Confederate soldiers being buried in there!. While most died in battle, were prisoners of war or who worked in Washington area hospitals, some were "rehabilitated" Confederates whose service later in life authorized their burial there!.
