This looks like him with his family in 1870!. I was so sure it must have been in a transcription error in 1880 (I even scribbled down Nathaniel Elkins and felt it could very well be mistaken as Edmond Waller), but now I see there is a marriage record!.

I couldn't find Nathaniel after the Civil War!. There is a chance he was killed then, but couldn't find a record of that, either!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't limit yourself to online sources!.
I lived in Roane county for a time!.!. and they have some incredible researchers and collections there!. Most of the records are intact, as I recall!. You would need to find the correct marriage date for Edmond and Tempy!. Looking at the children in the home in 1880, you cannot be sure which are her children or his!.!. but there is a gap of 5 yrs between the youngest and the next youngest!.
Its a beautiful place if you ever have the chance to go there!.
edit
with a child born in 1868, seems he lived beyond the war!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
