Question: How are these two people related!?
OK, I will try not to make this confusing!.
My grandmother is Peggy Whitten!.
Her grandfather is Daniel Whitten!.
Carol's great grandfather is also Daniel Whitten!.
How are Peggy and Carol related!? Cousins!?
And for the bonus, how is Carol related to me!?
I think it is really cool!. I was researching my family tree and Peggy (my grandmother) and Carol live on the same road and don't know each other!. How weird is that! I can't wait to tell my grandmother, I just want to get the relationship down first so I don;t sound stupid!.!.!.lol!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If Daniel Whitten is the latest common Ancestor of Peggy and Carol then they are first cousins-once removed!. (One of Carol's parents is Peggy's first cousin)
One of your parents is Carol's Second Cousin!. (they have the same great-grandfather)!. So that makes Carol your Second Cousin once removed!. Carol's children are your third cousins (Common great-great-grandfather - Daniel Whitten)Www@QuestionHome@Com
This is probably how they are related, assuming they are not aunt and niece!. I have one generation per line, children under parents, and I'm making up names to fill in the blanks!.
Daniel Whitten
Paul & Charlotte = brother & sister
Peggy & Carl = 1st cousins
Petunia & Carol = 2nd cousins
Jenn & Charles = 3rd cousins
Carol is Peggy's first cousin once removed through Carol's father, Carl!.
Carol is your mother Petunia's 2nd cousin and your 2nd cousin once removed!. When Carol has a son, Charles, he will be your 3rd cousin!.
Note also that if Daniel Whitten had more than one wife, through death, divorce or bigamy, or he trifled with the hired girl, so that Peggy's grandmother is not Carol's great grandmother, you put "half" in front of everything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well then carol is your grandmothers niece, or 2nd cousin, depending on who her parents are!. You have to find that out to know what Carol is to you , she could be a great Aunt, Or Distant cousin!. Without knowing who her parents (Carol) are , or were, you can not really establish what relation she is to you or your grandmother, only that she is relation!.^
I have been doing this with my family tree, & sometimes I have I no one living to ask how so & so was related!. so it is harder than I though when I started this !.I was to young to really understand & care when I had my family resources available to ask^

It does seem like they would be some sort of cousins!. maybe not primary but perhaps second cousins!? (im bad with relative terms haha but i think an example is a cousin's child, so 2nd cousin!?)
I say suggest That cousin theory to her anyway and why!.
