Question: Where the last name "Minga" comes from!?
I've heard it's German, or Scottish, Persian, Yiddish!?!?
Most of the people in the Minga family have black hair, brown and/or green eyes and are pretty tall- if that helps!.

Is there a good website where I can retrace their origins!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can see the distribution of the surname MINGA in the US in 1920 at the link below!. Places of origin are listed as : Germany/Preussen,
Great Britain, Austria, Sweden and Japan!. The 1891 census of the UK shows several families in England, too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definately not Scottish!

I found that it could be either:-
1!. Greek - Mingas - From the Aromanian mincu / mingu meaning 'small child'
2!. Eastern German / Slavic - its a nickname for the German name Meinhardt

Besides the websites given already, I found a link to this book on Amazon!.com - "The Minga Name in History (Paperback)" by Ancestry!.com ($29!.95) which gives:
* Name Meaning and Origin
* Immigration Patterns and Census Detail
* Family Lifestyles
* Military Service History
* Comprehensive Source Guide, for future research
