Question: Trying to find out about an ancestor!?
Iam looking for information on a william bessent!.He married lucinda e!. !? in the 1860s in georgia!.In 1860 he was in chatham county,georgia, in 1900 he may have been in greene county,georgia!.He was born around 1826 and probably died between 1900-1910!.He was my ggg grandfather!.His daugher maggie was my gg grandmother!.She was born in 1876!.Her name has been listed as maggie l!. windsor(she married lawson washington windsor in 1895 in greene county,georgia)!.She died in 1926 in marshall or dekalb county,alabama!.
What iam wondering is i have seen records of an abraham william bessent who was born around 1828 who married a lucinda e!. wright in georgia in 1866!.They had a daughter named margaret d!. bessent who was born in 1876!.Could this be the same person as my gg grandmother maggie l!. bessent!?

if you check the files at rootsweb!.!. Abraham Bessent was a popular family name!.!. there were several, including Abraham W, who married Lucinda Wright!.

this file includes the date and place!.
Yes, Maggie is a nickname for Margaret!.!. so it is very likely to be the same couple!. What is needed is to find Maggie's death record, which should have the names of her parents!. It also is common for someone to use a middle name!. You might search for his death record as that may also include his children's names!.

look up Margaret on rootsweb!.!. one file has Lucinda's line back, which seems to be solid Greene co!.

I perused my Ancestry account, and there are plenty of trees with Lucinda mentioned (often with father listed as John Bessant, b!. 1844, Somerset, England, married Lucinda E!. Wedmore, b!. 1838, Georgia)!.
I do not trust such trees unless they are properly sourced!.
Ancestry does allow a month-to-month subscription, so you wouldn't have to cough up all the money at once!.
Obviously we've got two different family lines in the same area so be very careful!. As mentioned, hit the free message boards on rootsweb, genealogy!.com, and ancestry!.
