Other people have given you websites such as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, but please, take the time to ask your Gran!. She will be more pleased than you can imagine that you're interested in her past!.

She will remember things about her own grandparents and how they lived that probably your own parents will not know, she will have valuable memories for you to write down!.

She won't be with you for ever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Good advice from others!.

Finding your family history is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, only you have to find the pieces!. Once you know the names of your relatives who were around during the Great War and other wars, you can search sites like this
http://www!.cwgc!.org/
which has an excellent search engine!. If you have an unusual surname, you could just have a look, but with the numbers of soldiers involved, you'll usually need some detail to be sure!.

There are also stes to look at to see who was awarded medals, and similar!. You can probably find these from the 1914-1918 net site, or searching in google!.

If you do go for the full family history research, then you may end up getting birth/marriage and death certificates!.

Ancestry!.com provides a basic free membership!. If you know the family member's first and last name, approximate birth and or death date and state they lived in, this should give you a good start!.
The Mormons (LDS) also have a terrific site with some limited records (please see URL below)!. This is a pilot program but really comprehensive!. I have found actual death certificates on here which will certainly help in your search!.
Take your time and enjoy the journey!.
Best of luck to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
