Genealogy deals with direct bloodlines, not adoption lines!.
To list a person as the birth child of an adoptive parent is misleading and can alter future searches, as well as, confuse future researchers!.
Your mother-in-law should be listed on the family tree as the child of her biological parent(s), with notation on her personal page, in the Story, Notes or Profile sections of the program or on-line site, acknowledging the adoption!.
Listing a person with the wrong parent(s) could cause some serious problems, if someone in the future researches the medical history of the wrong family, in this case her aunts husbands direct line!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Guess the best thing would be to get in touch with an adoption office where your mom was born!.
Give them the date of birth and the first name and the hospital name if you know of that!.!.!
Talk to any relatives of her's if you know and then if you can afford ask a lawyer how and what to do !.!.!?
Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was adopted by my would be Aunt and I always fill out my family tree as if I was given birth by my Aunt!. The only time I disclose any information about my being adopted is if medical records need to be gotten!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
