My mother has been working on it for ages!. Fascinating, really!. I'm not exactly sure how far back it goes, but I know that I'm related on my mother's side to Robert the Bruce who was king of Scotland (one of the men who betrayed William Wallace in Braveheart for those of you who have seen that or know the story)!. He lived in late 13th, early 14th century and my mom is still going!.!.!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

My Dad's brother wrote articles that were printed in a newspaper, outlining his side of the family tree back 5 generations!. It was very detailed, with named, dates, places, etc!., as well as details about life style, etc!.
My Mom's Mom hired a professional genealogist, which also went back 5 generations and gave posssibles for other relations!.
One of my cousins (Mom's side) sent information going back 14 generations!.
By incorporating that information, using the internet and books (Martin's Genealogy, for one), I have gone back to the early 1400s on my Dad's side, and before Christ on my Mom's side!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My Dad started one in 1963!. In the foreword it says, "My bald (then bald is scratched out and relaced with beloved) father-in law forced (that is crossed out and relaced by inspired) me to begin my search!. " lol!. anyway I've gotten into it and met some cousins ( Dad died when I was 16)!. It goes back to around 1802, someone on Mom's side claims to have traced us all the way back to the "House of David"!. I'll have to see the proof of that one before I can believe it, it just seems far fetched!. I mean it's a reputable person but come on, I just want proof if it's that far back!. I have one; I've been working on it since about 1998!. To date, it has approximately 160,000 people (mostly VERY distant cousins, of course), and on some lines goes back as many as 35 generations!. I tie into the old European royal families (as do many other people, whether they know it or not), and so once you get there, it's very easy to trace back a LONG way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've only been doing it two months and have used only the internet and i have got back to 1766 on a direct line!. But if you count cousins i can go to 1550!. I also am very distantly related to Elton John!

Yes but only goes as far back as Great Great Grandparents!.!.!.!.!. I'm starring this to see what other people say because I am a protestant living in northern Ireland so assumedly my family came here during the plantation of Ulster so I'd like to find out more about thatWww@QuestionHome@Com
