Question: Trying to find my long lost aunt!?
When my mother was born, my grandmother was married to her father!. He was an alcoholic so my grandma left him and never wanted my mom to find him!. My mother really wanted to find him but thougth that her mom would get mad at her for doing so, so one day my sister and I looked him up and called him!. Long story short its been a year now and my grandmother has passed away, my mom has a father and 2 siblings she didnt even know about and we are a big happy family!. Well After my grandmother died, my mom found out that her mom was married to a man when she was about 18 and had a baby girl (before my mom was born) but apperently the dad took her away due to relgion conflicts!. My mom told me that Grandma never wanted them to know and she took it to her grave literally!. I asked my mom to pursue it but she says that her and her sister arent going to, but I really want to, Because shes my family too and her mom didnt want her to find her dad and its the best thing thats happened to us! I dont have any information except her age and last name which is so common!.(smith) but i want to pursue it more!. Am i wrong to do this!? should i just leave it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

there is no harm in finding out the information, it is what you do with the info that is important!. Make discreet inquiries first, if you like what you see or hear then take it further!. Use your head and not your heart!

if you know roughly where your gran lived at that age then look her up on hte census follow the census through ie: 1900 - 1910 - 1920 etc untill you come to your grans marriage and birth of child!. it will be recorded some where, it takes time but keep trying!. ancestry!.co!.uk
