And then how do you show that one of those people has married someone else and had a family with them!?
I am making the kind of tree with the unbroken line between 2 married people who have kids and then in the case of a divorce/remarriage, a broken line to indicate the re-marriage!. Whew! List all children under the correct mother, regardless of the parents relationship!. Creat a legend at the bottom of your chart or on a preceding/separate page, indicating each vital statistic on the chart!. Example: b!.= birth date p!.b!. = place of birth d!. = death date p!.d!. = place of death burial = list type, burial or creamation and location m!. = marriage date, if ancestor was only married once!. p!.m!. = place of marriage m!. (1) = number of marriage, if there was more than 1 marriage!. Any marriage vitals associated with multiple spouses should be listed under each spouses name, in order to avoid confusion!. m!. (2) = name of spouse (D) = ended in divorce m!. (4) = name of spouse (A) = marriage ended in annulment m!. (P) = partnership Listing ex-in-laws/partners other marriages is not necessary, as they are no longer a part of the family!. Basically, it's your chart, so you can design it to your liking!. People may write a reference page that will have the explanation the reader will need!. Make a mark and show reference to the reference page!. The page should explain under what circumstances was the child born!. Many times the unmarried couple has its own family so its impossible to indicate perfectly what is the whole relationship!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Most of us don't ever draw trees per se!. We have genealogy programs, which are to genealogy what MS "Word" is to writing novels - they make it LOTS easier!. (You can get one for free from the Mormons; write if you'd liek details!.) The two charts we use are pedigree and Family Group Sheet!. With a pedigree chart, you put the individual on the left, his/her biological parents to the right, their biological parents further to the right, etc!. It looks a little like a tree turned 90 degrees!. For a FGS, you make one for every couple who has had children!. If two people married, had at least one child, divorced, married others and had more children, you'd have three FGS, one for each set of children with common parents!. (Alice and Andrew marry, have Alyssa and Andrew Jr!. FGS 1!. Alice marries to Bob, they have Bernice!. FGS 2!. Andrew marries Barbara; they have Betty, Bruce and Byoince; FGS 3!. If Bob and Barbara were married before, and had kids, you'd have two more FGS if you wanted!. In Genealogy, a family is any two people who have had at least one child together!. They don't have to be married!. The father can die 3 months before the child is born!. They don't have to get along, like each other or even know what his last name is!.Www@QuestionHome@Com that's a really tough one!. I would put the remarried spouse in the middle and connect both the ex and current spouse on each side!. Have the children from each relationship listed where they belong!. Might help to include dates next to the names (married: 2001, Divorced 2006) maybe!? I dunno hope this helps!.
