Question: Have you found long lost relatives!?
just recently found my dad after a 10 year search! But we have not been in contact for over 20-25 yrs and Im almost 30!. I wrote him a letter and he seems interested in getting to know me, and forming a relationship!. We both live on the east coast, which is a plus!. Im in MD and he is in FL, so it wouldnt be too hard to visit eachother when it comes to that!. Have you found a long lost relative!? How was your experience!? And do you have advice, or pointers!?

Well my nan's long-lost children found her and it's been a learning curve as some have been good stories and some have been not so nice

1) Don't rush in
my nan's daughter came with lots of 'i love you' s phone calls and such then my nan was upset when the fizzled out!.!.!.

2) Both talk about what you want from the relationship before meeting
E!.g: how much contact you want, calling him 'dad' or by his name, etc!.

3) Talk it through with your family first and make sure he does too
my family was very supportive of my nan even though we didn't know she had these children beforehand but now are feeling like we've been dragged into this mess

4) Be yourself
don't feel like you have to put on an act even though it's hard

Congratulations on finding your father and good luck for the rest of your relationship! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi yes I found a first cousin, we talk on the phone all the time it's been a really good experience for me as we are not what you might call a close family, We are both in our early 50's and get on very very well!.

We have met up a couple of times, odd we only live about 2 hours away from each other!.!.

Good luck I hope it goes well for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
