Question: What are the different types of cousins!?
I understand what first cousin, double cousins, parallel cousins, and cross cousins!. What is it called when you share a single grandparent, instead of a pair of grandparents!?
I would think it be similar to "half-sibling"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Half cousin, but only a genealogist being technical (or settling a bet) would use the term!.

I know a family whose children are President John Adams' half first cousins, seven times removed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You would be half first cousins!. However, in some families specifying "half" seems not too friendly!. Therefore you can call them first cousins!.

Now, the children of your first cousins are your first cousins once removed!. The removes come in when you are not in the same generation coming down from a common ancestor!. In this case your grandparent would be a great grandparent to your cousins' children!.

Your cousins' grandchildren would be your first cousins twice removed as there are 2 generations separating you!.

Your children and your first cousins' children are second cousins!. They share great grandparents!.
Your grandchildren and your first cousins' grandchildren are third cousins, etcWww@QuestionHome@Com

I would call then 1st Cousins, I have a number of these as my Grandfather married twice, Same Grandfather but different GrandMothers, They are still my first cousins!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

id still say cousin but half cousin if you wantWww@QuestionHome@Com
