The name Katarina comes from a Greek word, katharos, meaning "pure"!. It became immensely popular all over Europe as it was the name of one of the greatest early Christian saints, St Catherine of Alexandria!. It has many local variants in European languages - Kirstin, Karen, Katrine, Catriona, Catalina, Ekaterina, and so on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
