The name is not the original spelling!. There are no records on it except one person in Massachusetts who is currently alive!. It could be either Polish or Lithuanian, but you'll have to do more snooping with your grandfather to find out who his parents were and where they lived in 1930!. also ask about his grandparents and where they lived in 1920 and 1930!. When we get that information, we can do much better snooping and find out where they were from, when they came over and how they lived!.

If you find that information and want to email it to me, I would be happy to spend a couple of hours tonight or tomorrow going through records to see what is out there and if there's information on their hometowns in Europe!.

BTW, the way we know the spelling changed is that in Polish, it's always "i before e!." When there's "ei" in a name, it had outside influences on the spelling!. If the original name really is Mietkiewicz, which is possible, there are records all over the country!. But we still need to start with records on people alive in 1930, so we need names and places to get started!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
